Offroad Addicts By-Laws
Article 1: Name
a). This organization shall be known as “Offroad Addicts”.
b) Offroad Addicts is organized as a “Not for Profit” organization.
Article 2: Objectives
a). To provide a family oriented, pro-active, dedicated club for its members with special emphasis in trail riding and rockcrawling.
b). To participate in the future of off-highway driving on a national basis.
c). To provide the membership with an active calendar of events.
d). To promote the safe and responsible use of public land and recreational areas.
e). To actively practice the principles of “Tread Lightly!”
f). To protect the future of our sport.
Article 3: Membership
a). Membership eligibility is open to owners of any 4x4 equipped with a low range transfer case.
b). Dues will be $25 per year, per household (voting privileges and banner/sticker).
c). Dues will be paid every May.
d). Dues will be pro-rated from the month the member joins to May of that year, then every May following.
e). Any member that is two (2) months behind will be dropped from the roster, unless arrangements are made with the club treasurer.
f). Anyone under the age of 18 wishing to join the club must have a signed parental or guardian release form.
g). The owner of the establishment/business where the meetings are held will not be able to decide who can be a member of this organization. If by chance there becomes a problem, the meetings will be changed to a different location.
Article 4: Meetings
a). There shall be one business meeting per month and one wheeling meeting per month.
b). The location and time of the meetings will be held at Expert Offroad on the first Friday of every month at 6:30 pm.
c). Club business will be approved by a majority vote of the members in attendance.
d). Any changes to the by-laws will be discussed at the monthly meeting and voted on at the following months meeting.
Article 5: Administration and Officers
a). Offroad Addicts will be administered by a President, Vice-President/Treasurer, Secretary/Newsletter Editor, Safety Officer, Activities Director and Web-master.
1. Web-master is an official office, BUT it is a voluntary position.
2. Persons holding these offices will submit written or verbal resignation one month prior to vacating office.
3. Resignations must be presented in the presence of at least two elected club officials.
4. No elected club officers may deny the resignation of a voluntary officer.
b). Officers will be voted on by secret ballot, winner determined by majority vote.
1. Elections will be held from top down-President, Vice-President/Treasurer, Secretary/Newsletter Editor, Safety Officer, Activities Director and Web-master.
c). Officers will be nominated every November and voted on in December. Elected officers will take office in January.
d). Officers will be elected to a one-year term. No one will hold the same elected office for more than two consecutive terms, but may hold a different office after two consecutive terms in another office.
e). Any member may hold two offices. Exception – The same person may not hold President and Vice-President/Treasurer simultaneously.
f). Candidates for office must be members in good standing, dues up to date and attend a minimum of 65% of official club functions.
Article 6: Officer Responsibilities
a). President
1. Preside over meetings and events.
2. Represent the club.
3. Inform members of choices facing our recreational choice.
b). Vice-President/Treasurer
1. Assist the President.
2. Serve in place of the President in event of their absence.
3. Receive and answer all correspondence for the club.
4. Keep and maintain all fiscal records.
5. Collect all dues and fees.
6. Make disbursements as directed by vote results.
7. Prepare quarterly financial reports for publication in the Offroad Addicts member’s only forum.
c). Secretary/Newsletter Editor
1. Record minutes at monthly meetings.
2. Keep and preserve all records.
d). Safety Officer
1. Educate members about safe driving and safe wheeling.
2. Provide technical inspections at club functions and events as necessary.
e). Activities Director
1 Schedule wheeling meeting.
2. Schedule club activities.
f). Web-Master
1. Will create and maintain the club web-site.
Article 7: Recall and Special Elections
a). Any officer that does not fulfill the obligations of their office(s) as described in Article 6 of the Offroad Addicts By-Laws may be recalled.
b). The club officers will contact all members by any means necessary at least 30 days prior to a recall vote.
c). In the event of a vacancy of office the successor will be elected at the next business meeting.
d). Any officer may be removed from or elected to office by a simple majority vote by secret ballot.
e). Any officer to be recalled must be notified and the reasons for a recall vote discussed prior to the recall vote.
Article 8: Expenditures and Finance
a). All money collected by the club will be turned over to the Treasurer and placed in the club bank account.
b). No expenditures will be made without club approval except:
* Windshield banners/t-shirts.
c). All expenditures and deposits must be accompanied by a receipt or deposit slip.
d). A ledger of the clubs funds shall be maintained by the treasurer and shall be open to inspection by any club member.
Article 9: Events and Functions
a). All events and functions are subject to club approval.
b). All events will be conducted in a family oriented and safe manner.
c). No alcohol or illegal drugs will be permitted at any club function under penalty of expulsion from the club.
d). All members will obey the traffic laws of the state, wear seat belts, and practice the principles of “Tread Lightly!” while at any club function.
e). If conditions exist that prevent a club function to be held safely a majority vote of club officers may postpone or cancel the event.
f). Anyone under the age of 18 must have a signed parental or guardian consent form in order to participate in a club event.
